Local Jewelry Artisans?

We're looking to have someone create a setting for my engagement ring. Since I'm not an old-timer in this area, I don't know much about jewelry stores.

I've visited:

Matisoff's: Not impressed with their store or their salesmen. They're extremely pushy.
Markman's: Totally turned off with their customer service.
Jordan's: Not what I'm looking for. It seems like an upscale Friedman's which is fine, but they don't have anyone who can actually create jewelry in-house.

I absolutely will not go back to Markman's, as I have been there three times and all three times I was treated very poorly and without justification.
If I have to, I will go back to Matisoff's, but I'd like to look other places beforehand.

Thanks in advance.

I'll second Fischer Evans and Taylor.

To elaborate on Taylor (I was about to head out somewhere earlier), you could go in there and say you're looking for an engagement ring and want to spend $25,000 and she won't bat an eye. Or, you could give her a much more reasonable and modest budget and she'll treat you with the same honesty and courtesy and that she would give any other customer.

I've been buying jewelry there for my wife for going on eleven years and would hardly think of shopping anywhere else (and I totally have been through what you described about Matisoff's).
