Spiderman 2

The weekend before last, we went to a local theater and saw Spiderman 2. I actually was fairly excited to see it because I've always had mild interest in Doctor Octopus. However, as with all movies that are very hyped, I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would - maybe it is some kind of mind thing? I've felt the same way about other movies that were extremely played up - Matrix is a good example of this.

At any rate, it is basically the same ol' superhero story - villain versus superhero; superhero wins; the end. I did get pretty emotional during a scene where Peter actually admits to his Aunt the circumstances behind his Uncle's death. It was a stunning performance from both actors. Something that surprised me about the movie was that in the end, MJ and Peter do 'get together' in the most basic way (no sex, folks - thank goodness). While this may have been pretty obvious to most fans, the previews really played up the scene where Peter told MJ he didn't love her, so I guess I just didn't really expect it.

Overall, I'd give it a B+. It was better than the first one yes, but was the first one really that great?

There will be a Spiderman 3, and I am guessing that it will be similar to the first two - the same storyline of villain versus superhero; superhero wins; the end. We'll see.
