Cold Creek Manor

First of all, I'd like to start out by stating that I enjoyed this movie, however I'm not so sure the fiance did. He said it was too predictable, and although I normally catch on to predictable storylines (he does do a better job at that than me, though), I really did not predict the movie heading this way - at least at first.

Basically, a family from the city buys a large house in the country to break away from city life. Since the house is purchased through a bank (it was repossessed from a guy who was serving jail time), the family acquires all of the contents of the home upon the purchase of the house.

Eventually the family is involved with the old house owner - a man who seeks to push the city slickers out of town so he can once again own the house that has apparently been in his family for many generations. It is unclear if the jailbird is interested in the house because of its history, or if it is because the house (and the yard) literally holds the clues to his dark secret.

Of course, the movie ends on a pretty good note, and yes, the family lives "happily ever after."

Overall, I'd give the movie a "B-." Since I don't watch a lot of television, I don't get a chance to see a lot of movie previews, so this movie isn't what I really expected. I did enjoy it though, so in a way I was plesantly surprised, and happy to find out that it wasn't a typical family-moves-in-to-a-haunted-house movie. The movie does become predictable, and I felt that the characters weren't fleshed out very well. I like to know a little bit about the folks I'm devoting hours to.
